WEAVER’S WEEKEND presents…

FUTUREBIRDS & TRON JACKSON

Doors at 8 p.m. / Show at 9 p.m.

Admission: $20 Advance / $25 At The Door

Some folks think good music comes from making a whole bunch of sounds no one’s ever heard before. Some folks think that you can sit back and take her easy for a little while without trying too damn hard. The Futurebirds think you can have a little of both. If you push yourself every once in a while, you might wind up in the right place around the right friends and come up with something worth playing on the porch-swing over an ice- cold beer. Hailing from Athens, GA, a sleepy-living music community—more earnest than you’ll find elsewhere—the Futurebirds work to set things right where they belong. Provide people with an infectious melody and a refreshing song about things they understand and they’ll sing with you. After a release of their EP, the group signed with Autumn Tone Records and produced Hampton’s Lullaby. The band produces sounds similar to the Flying Burrito Brothers and The Band, with ragged Stanley Brothers harmonies, moonshining guitar work, and pedal steel playing to the likes of Ralph Mooney.

Opening for the Futurebirds is Tron Jackson, a rock-n-roll cover band comprised of a bunch of hooligans who like to forget their roles as attorneys (and one member slogging through the world of finance) by playing loud music at venues around Atlanta and Macon. The group consists of guitarists George Greer & Zach McElveen, percussionist Alex “Ticco Torres” Sanders, bassist Baxter James, and front man Brian Smith; joined on good nights by “The Macho Man” Randy Sanders on harmonica. The group covers songs ranging from U2 to AC/DC to the Killers.

Proceeds for this event will benefit The Friends of Mike Weaver Foundation. Founded in 2010 in Memory of Mike Weaver, the foundation is a tax exempt charity focusing on promoting Youth Sports in the Middle Georgia Area. Weaver’s Weekend is the main fundraising event to raise money for these local youth sports organizations. Weaver’s Weekend begins on Friday, August 26th with the 3rd Annual Golf Classic Presented by the Bons Hommes at Healy Point Country Club. Saturday morning will feature a clean-up day of Vine Ingle Little League, followed by the Futurebirds and Tron Jackson Saturday Evening.
