About the Grand Prix

A Cherry Blossom Festival sanctioned event
Activities will center around the intersection of Poplar and Third Streets. There will be an 'Ugly Lawn Mower' Beauty Pageant. Decorate your old lawn mower (any kind, any size, any way - no entry fee) and compete for a $100 prize. The race will begin at 5 pm. Professional Lawn Mower racing is one of the country's fastest growing motor sports. The blades are removed for safety and these souped-up machines can go faster than 60 miles per hour!

The Awards Ceremony will be held at the Cox Capitol Theatre at 6 pm. It will feature music from the 'One Big Party' band and a free showing of "Talladega Nights: The Legend of Ricky Bobby" at 8 pm.

There is no admission fee for any of the Lawn Mower Grand Prix events.

Purchase raffle tickets for the chance to win the Go Cart on display at the Cox Capitol Theatre. Tickets are $10 and are available at the theatre. The winning ticket will be drawn at the Awards Ceremony.
